The Captain of the Or'Kov army had led his men to the location his intelligence had provided. He never knew how they managed to gain such information and he didn't particularly care as long as it was accurate. His men were on unfamiliar grounds, and the night had not fully set. They were at a disadvantage. He would not order the strike until the darkness set, but there was still work to be done. "You all have your orders. This is a priority target. If I catch any of you deviating from the plans I will deal with the subordination personally. Is that understood?" Loferien's demeaner was most serious. Not a word was ushered from his troops. They had all seen fellow soldiers pay the price for straying off course. As the night drew, Loferien checked and double checked his troop positions. Nothing could go wrong. It would be his head on the block if this mission went south. The Prince of Atas'Cosita, possibly the most valuable leverage in the war effort. As soon as it was dark enough and the scouts reported the townsfolk retiring to their homes for the night the Captain launched the attack. There was no time to delay. Or'Kov soldiers baring foreign armour and insignias surged in to lay waste. The siege had been a complete success. The soldiers had the town surrounded, bottlenecking every escape save one. There was only one place the Prince could go from here. The city of Atas'Cosita. For good measure, any citizen that could not run were cut down. This had to look like a random raid, not a strategically planned attack. Not one soldier had been given permission to feed. There would be no signs of Or'Kov presence whatsoever. Insignias were left scattered, most of them would probably have no record in Cositan books. The Captain had gathered many from foreign lands. Any armour scraps found would bare the marks of no local smiths. It's was flawless. A collection of insignias and foreign, bloodied vampire fangs had been kept. Loferien had written a comprehensive report of how he personally rallied a collection of his best men to meet the rogue vampires head on in defence of the city. The report contained details on numbers, attack style and the direction they fled after defeat. Of course it was all false though when the area was searched and no Or'Kov presence was found at the scene of the attack there was no reasonable reason they should be persecuted for anything. The letter was folded into the pouch and taken to the city. Given to the Sub Commander for review. |
