Reason after reason had been given to the Queen as to why the vampires had started their attacks and none of them made any sense to her. Vengeance for being treated poorly? Glacious in a bad mood? Victimized by the brutal Security Force for crimes never committed? Her favourite had been ‘trying to silence the vampires she had been in league with all along’. It always made her chuckle. Whatever the reason, though, Zaboo had done what she could to mobilize her troops to protect her Kingdom and her people.

Things had been going so well for the femme, the kingdom (while never truly at peace) had seen the crime rate drop due to the stellar work of the Security Force, the food stores were plentiful and she had even married and produced an heir to the throne. It would make sense, then, that things were due to fall apart.

First there was the death of her beloved adviser, Volaire, a furre she would have trusted her very spirit with and then the Vampire War began. When she realized, however, that there was a pattern to the attacks the undead were throwing at her the Queen found her confidence faltering. They weren't after the city, they weren't even after her. She’d been confident in the fact that Glacious knew her tie to the lands, knew that with her death the Kingdom itself would feel the blow. That enchantment had been the only thing that kept her alive on numerous occasions. Now, however, there was another option and it would appear the Vampire Lord had realized it as well.

Prince Darroch, son of Queen Zaboo and Lord Kern, heir to the throne of AtasCosita and the only other furre that had the link to the land like Zaboo did. It was passed on by blood, generation after generation, and now Darroch, like his mother, was tied permanently to the Kingdom.

That realization made Zaboo’s blood run cold. Glacious wasn't after her. He wasn't after the city. His goal was her son. If he were to sire her son, turn him to a vampire, then Darroch would carry both the blood of the Kingdom and of the Or’Kovs. With that mixed blood Glacious, himself, and all his kin would become as Zaboo and Darroch were, protected by the enchantment. Zaboo and Darroch, then, would become dispensable and eliminating them would be not only easy, but knowing Glacious.. a pleasure. She would, with no hesitation, take her own life were she faced with being sired. The Or’Kov Lord knew that. Her son, however, she would never put in harms way.. so with a heavy heart the Queen did the one thing no mother ever wanted to do, with his father as protector she sent her son away. Making her husband swear never to tell her where they had gone, for fear it could be forced from her, she bade her farewells and it would be years before she would see her family again.

Whispers, like wildfire, began to spread. A dragon of white risen from death.. but not dead. Returned to life by the great Dragon herself, to restore balance to an imperfect world. Furres began to trickle back to the city, pulled by a force that nobody could explain, bringing life to the streets once more. Then hushed words of a Prince and his father in the Northern Forest, resting for a few days before their journey would continue. To Zaboo’s dismay, however, AtasCosita wasn't the only one to hear of that particular secret. When the Or’Kov heir came to her and mockingly told her that the Vampire Lord was already on the march Zaboo did the only thing she could think of.. and sent her fastest winged messenger to the village of her youth, warning them to take up arms, to prepare themselves, and to get those to safety who needed it, hoping desperately that her husband and their son were among those who left. That her Kingdom would be safe from the Or’Kov Clan for just a little while longer.
