Character Information: Time is a fickle companion, is it not? When acknowledged, it seems to be an oppressive master. When ignored, it becomes a fleeting specter; there one moment and gone the next. What then shall we say of him? Is he an ally or an enemy? A comforter or an agitator? Is he truly neutral and apathetic to those bound within his strictures? If I ever knew him, I fear I have long since strayed from his ways.
Time infinite, my gift.
I stand on the precipice of a world I cannot claim as my own. I was born here. Twice, I think. Only mon Papa could tell me which was true birth and which was metamorphosis, although I think I shall not see him again to ask. Betrayal by a beloved daughter is a crime I fear even time neither readily forgives, nor easily forgets. Even less so when such a crime as this is delivered threefold. Mon MaƮtre. Mon Papa. Mon amant. Can even one of you forgive me, or shall I continue to wander until I may find peace?
Oh Josephine, what have you done? Who are you now? I barely recognize you. So innocent and sweet you were. So obedient and happy. Is this what time does to you?
Non! I am strong! I have not forgotten that life is a journey, or that sometimes we lose our way. I must find it again or strike out anew. There is more in this world which I have yet to accomplish. I fully intend to do so.
~Josephine Nightsing (a journal excerpt)
